7 Days to Die beginner guide
Haven Collective's 7 Days to Die server is a PvE co-op survival world. Player killing is switched off, so the only things trying to end your run are the zombies, the weather and your own empty stomach. This guide covers how to join, how the server is set up, and how to survive your first week through to the first blood moon.
Joining the server
From the 7 Days to Die main menu choose Join a Game. You can search the server list for Haven Collective, or use Connect to IP and enter 54.37.245.238 with port 7000. The 7 Days to Die page shows whether the server is online and how many people are on.
The server runs Easy Anti-Cheat, so leave it switched on in the launcher. Crossplay is off for now, so the server is for PC players on Steam.
How the server is set up
PvE co-op. Players cannot hurt each other. Team up, trade and build together, or play alone next to everyone else.
A fresh 6K random world. The map is one of the game's pre-generated random worlds rather than Navezgane, so even veterans will be finding their way.
Up to 8 players. A small, friendly server where you will get to know the regulars.
Hosted in Europe. Low ping for players in the UK and the rest of Europe.
New player protection. For your first few levels and hours, zombies will not spawn right on top of you, which gives you time to find your feet.
Land claims expire after 7 days offline. Your land claim block protects your base while you play. If you are away for more than a week it can lapse, so log in now and then.
Your first week
Punch grass for plant fibres, craft a stone axe and a club, and pick up every rock and stick you pass. Your first day is about gathering and finding a direction.
Talk to the trader nearest your spawn and take their first quests. Trader quests are the fastest way to good gear and money early on.
Find somewhere defensible before dark. Nights are far more dangerous than days, and zombies run at night.
Place your land claim block once you have picked a base so your building is protected, and drop a bedroll so you do not respawn at a random spot.
Cook your food and boil your water. Raw meat and murky water make you sick, which is a bad way to start a horde night.
Spend skill points on what you actually do. If you mine, put points into mining; if you fight with a bow or club, put them there.
Blood moon nights
Every few days the sky turns red and a horde comes for every player, wherever they are. The day counter turns red on horde day. Build a base you can defend, with spikes, walls and a high position, stock ammunition and medicine, and team up with other players if you can. Surviving your first blood moon is the real start of the game.
The rules
Co-op only: do not kill, trap or grief other players.
Do not build in, wall off or block traders and shared points of interest.
Other players' land claims, storage and vehicles are theirs.
Do not lead a blood moon horde to someone else's base.
No duplication, exploits or cheats.
The rules for every Haven Collective server are on the rules page.
